Training

Training is covered several ways in the HSSE website. The business units have the primary responsiblity for determining who goes to what training. Each BU has a training matrix that defines the training for your particular job duties. See your BU's training coordinator for your required training.

This section addresses training covered under OSHA Health Standards, State of Illinois Radiation Safety and office ergonomics training required by some business units. If you have questions about which ones apply to you, please check the Training section under “About HSSE”.

Training which covers all employees:
Access to exposure and medical records; and
Office ergonomics

Training required for laboratory and pilot plant workers:
Hazard Communication and Occupational Exposures to hazardous chemicals in Laboratories;
Chemical specific standard required trainings (i.e. Benzene). Chemical specific training requirement does not apply to employees working in the laboratory with the exception that the exposure to employees must be below the exposure limits and avoid eye and skin contact with these chemicals;
Respiratory protection (for employees in the respiratory protection program);
Hearing conservation (for employees in the hearing conservation program);
Task Hazard Analysis and Personal protective equipment;  
Ionizing radiation; and
Laser
