Contractor Safety
Consistent with BP’s Operating Management System (OMS 2.5), the following information defines the BP Naperville site policy on Working with Contractors.

Contractors, suppliers, and others are key to BP’s successful business performance. BP will continually assess their performance and competencies to perform work on its behalf. BP will work with outsource providers to ensure that all Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) expectations are aligned. Monitoring all Contractor work performance provides assurance that BP’s rigorous standards are met.

The requirements set forth in this policy are in addition to all terms and conditions of accepted services contracts.

The term "contractor" is defined as a non-BP person(s) performing or supervising "work" at CAF. "Work" is defined as: using tools, equipment or a combination of both. These personnel are specifically hired for the ability and expertise to complete a defined task. Examples of contractor work include: performance of construction related activities, maintenance work and/or Control of Work activities.

All other non-BP personnel performing services at CAF must go through site security for access and follow all applicable site security rules. The personnel may include office-based consultants, warranty/service providers, delivery personnel and vendors. The providers do not have to be approved in Avetta and may not be required to attend Passport site orientation.

BP Naperville 2017 Contactor List The attached list provides you with all the contractors that are currently in Avetta and their approval status at CAF. There are three tabs that indicate a contractor's flag status in Avetta. Please keep in mind that a "red" flagged contractor may still work on-site under certain conditions and approval; thus check both the Green and Red tabs in the spreadsheet for the most accurate representation of contractor working approvals.

RED Flag Contractors - If a contractor is in Avetta with a Red flag they cannot be used because they do not meet BP Naperville minimum requirements. In cases of critical business need, a variance process may be followed to permit red flagged contractors to work on-site. More information on the site variance process can be obtained from Tony DiGuiseppe (tony.diguiseppe@bp.com).

YELLOW Flag Contractors - Yellow flagged contractors have not completed the necessary updates in the Avetta system and are not permitted to work at BP Naperville. If your contractor is yellow flagged, encourage them to contact Avetta directly to provide any missing information. Red or Green flag status cannot be determined until all required information has been submitted to Avetta.

If you do not find a company that meets your needs or a company you do business with is not clear to work, please call Avetta directly at 1-949-936-4500 or contact Jason Green at 1-312-809-4013.

Avetta website access: http://www.avetta.com/  If you would like to request user access to Avetta, please contact Tony DiGuiseppe (tony.diguiseppe@bp.com) for assistance.

Once a contractor has been approved to work on-site they must attend Passport training prior to obtaining a permanent badge. This training is provided several times each month and serves as the site contractor HSE orientation.

Passport Training Reminders

1) All contractors performing work must take Passport before receiving a badge to work on site.
The Passport training schedule is sent out at the beginning of every quarter to allow for pre-planning. Sign up is coordinated through CAFO HSE. Please contact Lanette Mullan (lanette.mullan@bp.com) for registration information.
Special requests for additional Passport classes may be considered. Please contact Lanette Mullan (lanette.mullan@bp.com) for additional information.
Passport training is required annually.

2) All contractors must be approved in Avetta (Green Flagged) before receiving a badge to work on site.   Contractors can attend Passport training (space permitting) without Avetta approval. However, a badge will not be provided upon completion until their company is Avetta approved.
